Omushana's ADVENT CHALLENGE

Omushana Admin |

Thanks to some wonderful donors we achieved our goal of purchasing 25 Reading Books over the 25 days of December leading up to Christmas. Thanks to Rene, Fiona, Jessica, Mary, Caty, Emmy, Kim and Julia all these books are now off to Uganda to help our "Fun with Books" project. We've focussed on really fabulous children's books. most with an African theme. More pictures to follow when they reach the children all around Bwindi Forest.

December 1st - Launching Omushana's 2018 FUN WITH BOOKS ADVENT BOOK CHALLENGE

The aim of the challenge is to buy 25 FUN reading books to present to our 3 Reading Champions so that they have some lovely new books to read to children and inspire them during the year to come. Our amazing Reading Champions are: Caroline at Buhoma Community Library, Speria at Ruhija Community Library and Ben at the Rubuguli Community Library (run by our partners at Footsteps). The average price for a book is £5 (to buy and transport). Please donate £5 through this website - just leave a message to let us know which book you are funding. We will put a dedication in the front stating that the book was donated by you (if you have a personal message please let us know) and we will send you pictures of the book and our fun with books project in action early next year!

When our Trustee Gill visited Uganda this spring her bags were packed not only with donations and equipment, but also with letters. Pupils at Newnham Junior School in London had written over 100 letters to the children in Uganda! The letters were given to pupils at Murushasha Community, Ruhija Orphans & Needy, Nyakeina Parent's and Rushaga Community Schools. And the pupils responded .... Gill arrived back in UK with over 100 letters written back to the Newnham pupils.
