Making big changes out of small change!

Omushana Admin |

Thanks to the design and technology department at Meole Brace Secondary School in Shropshire, Omushana benefits from a wonderful collection box programme. These wonderful boxes were designed by staff and pupils at Meole Brace and are about to be adopted by several more schools. Pupils take the boxes home for a few weeks and collect small change which soon adds up. Over the past 4 years Meole Brace has raised over 1500 pounds and Newnham School in London has raised over 900 pounds in the last 6 months! This money has been used to build latrines and water tanks and to fund our new Community Library. THANKS to every pupil that has joined in this programme and especially to Mr Cox & Mr Humprhries who have worked so hard to make the boxes work.

If your group or school want to join in this scheme we can provide ready made boxes or flat packs for you to construct your own boxes.  Please get in touch!

We are pleased to announce that Susan Browne has joined the Trustee Board of Omushana. Susan has been a great supporter of the charity since first hearing about our work in 2012. Following a trip to Uganda in November 2018 she finally got to see the projects first hand and leapt at the opportunity to become a Trustee. We are really excited to have her on board.

Omushana's 2018 FUN WITH BOOKS ADVENT BOOK CHALLENGE - A HUGE SUCCESS

Thanks to some wonderful support we were able to purchase 54 FUN reading books to present to our 3 Reading Champions so that they have some lovely new books to read to children and inspire them during the year to come. The books will be taken out to Uganda in February - watch out for lots of smiles on faces coming soon! Our amazing Reading Champions are: Caroline at Buhoma Community Library, Speria at Ruhija Community Library and Ben at the Rubuguli Community Library (run by our partners at Footsteps). The average price for a book is £5 (to buy and transport). Please donate £5 through this website - just leave a message to let us know which book you are funding. We will put a dedication in the front stating that the book was donated by you (if you have a personal message please let us know) and we will send you pictures of the book and our fun with books project in action early next year!
