In 2022 a short story writing competition, sponsored by Swiss Relief Association, was organized at the Mgahinga Community Library. Nearly 60 entries were received and prizes of sports bags, tshirts and school fees were awarded to the top 3 entries in each of the four classes. Even more exciting is that all the prize winning stories have been published in a book, with illustrations provided by pupils of Newnham School in London. The “Stories from Mgahinga” book is now available in all the Omushana supported Community Libraries and all schools in Mgahinga.
