OUR PROJECTS > SUPPORTING GROUPS

As well as working in more than 15 schools, Omushana supports a number of other groups creating a positive impact for local children.

If you wish to support any of these groups please contact us. Omushana can receive donations on behalf of any of these groups and 100% of these donations will be passed on to the group promptly. No administration costs are taken by Omushana.

NB: Omushana does not support individual child sponsorship; donations for child sponsorship cannot be sent via Omushana.

Hope For Orphans (HOPU)

HOPU gives support to orphans and needy children in Nyakishojwa village. The children have the opportunity to get together twice a week for singing, dancing and games and HOPU gives support to each individual child, and their families/guardians, whenever it is needed - for example assistance with medical bills, providing essential scholastic materials at the start of term, counselling and moral support, and donations of clothing and uniforms. There is a strong recognition of the importance of education and wherever possible the children are encouraged to continue to secondary school and beyond. IT training, a promotion of vocational training, training and advice in health and hygiene, and nature conservation/environmental awareness are also key aims of HOPU.

If you wish to support HOPU please contact us. Omushana can receive donations on their behalf and 100% of these donations will be passed on promptly. No administration costs are taken by Omushana.

Train a Woman

Train A Woman comprises 13 wonderfully strong and courageous women who are overcoming challenges in their lives by establishing various enterprises to raise the money required to provide their children with opportunities for education. Many of the women are supporting not only their own children but the children of other family members and orphans - a total of 43 children are dependent on the women in the group.

The group also aims to enable, encourage and train women throughout the parish so that they can generate the income necessary to live independently and to raise their children with a bright future.

Omushana assisted Train A Women to establish new businesses by providing a grant to purchase essential equipment such as a knitting machine, gardening tools and kitchen utensils. We also support their craft businesses, marketing their necklaces and baskets in UK to maximise their profits.

If you wish to support Train a Woman please contact us. Omushana can receive donations on their behalf and 100% of these donations will be passed on promptly. No administration costs are taken by Omushana.

Forest Friends

Forest Friends is a children's support group in Ruhija, adjacent to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with the motto: Environment & Education for our Future.

The group focuses on promoting the importance of conservation, particularly of the forest and mountain gorillas, educating local children in sustainable development for self reliance.

This is carried out in a number of ways, including education about conservation methods; assistance with regular schooling needs such as uniforms; drama, dance, and artistic activities; community and health education; craft making and agriculture lessons; vocational training (particularly sewing) and supply of other necessary assistance such as help with medical bills.

Omushana has assisted the group with donations of clothes, sewing machines and provision of a building where the children can meet.

If you wish to support Forest Friends please contact us. Omushana can receive donations on their behalf and 100% of these donations will be passed on promptly. No administration costs are taken by Omushana.
